All activities related to Refresh (the conference, side events, workshops, parties and meetups) are organised as inclusive events. We expect everyone participating in any associated events to read and adhere to this Code of Conduct (CoC), this includes but is not limited to attendees, sponsors, organisers, volunteers, speakers, suppliers. Refresh Conference believes that our community should be open for everyone. As such, we are committed to providing a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, colour, national origin, age, disability (physical or mental), sexual orientation, gender identity, parental status, marital status, and political affiliation as well as gender expression, mental illness, socioeconomic status or background, neuro(a)typicality, or physical appearance.
This CoC outlines our expectations to all participants as well actions taken for unacceptable behaviour.
Examples of behaviour that contributes to creating a positive environment include:
Using welcoming and inclusive language
Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
Focusing on what is best for the community
Showing empathy towards other community members
Examples of unacceptable behaviour by participants include:
The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances
Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
Public or private harassment
Publishing other's private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission
Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting
If you are subject to unacceptable behaviour, notice someone else subjected to it, or have any other concerns, please notify the conference organiser or volunteers ASAP. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behaviour by the organiser, partner or attendee is expected to comply immediately. The organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including removing the person with unacceptable behaviour from the event without warnings or refunds.
